JOE MILLER

1-25-2010

Miller Racing is making the switch to nitromethane. I remember the first time I saw a fuel funny car. I was 6 years old, and I haven't been the same since. My Dad, Mike Miller, and I bought a KB at the end of the summer, and it had a stout alcohol set up in it. But I really feel that I would rather race once or twice a year on nitro, than 8 to 10 times a year on alky. Time and money are the factors in any racers budget, and our budget won't allow very much. Get what you want, want what you get is the saying, and that is what we are doing. I have been knee deep in the nitro scene for a few years now, gaining alot of hands on experience. I've been a student of the devil's juice for a long time, and now its time to graduate. With help from people like Jeff Gaynor, Mark Stuckey, Gary Eickmann, and Twig Zeigler, I will have enough people to tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Our goal is to get the bugs and my licensing worked out this year, then hit a couple of the major west coast races next year. This car is a true survivor of the era, it was a nitro car in the mid 70's, and it will be again. 98 percent of the funny cars that race the Heritage series now, are all new cars, built in "the spirit" of the class. This car is the real deal, and after this summer I would like to try and qualify with the big guys. It would be a long shot, but how cool would it be to make a Nostalgia Funny car field with a car that I used watch from the fence when I was a kid...... a true 118 wb car made out of 35+ year old pipe! We will never be the fastest, our sights are set on staying true to the glory days of AA/FC. Our recipe for success includes our vintage F/C, with a vintage KB stage 3 engine, complete with 70's ramp truck hauler. Can it get any better than that?
